Description

Biometrics is a method of authentication of a human based upon physiological and behavioral characteristics. The physiological characteristics include fingerprints recognition, face and iris recognition and the behavioral characteristics include signature or voice recognition.

How they work

More and more companies are using this form of identification, proven so far to be more safe than the already used technologies. It is taken into discussion to replace the passwords with biometric solution, for example readers built in the keyboards.

What to look for

There are not many tools to choose from, because this kind of concept it is not exploited at a large scale, not yet. One of the few products available is BioWebAuth (Biometrics for Web Authentication) a tool designed to provide single sign-on web authentication. It might provide an alternative solution for managing the identity access.
