Description

Gamer servers can divide in listen servers and dedicated servers * The listen servers run on the same machine as the client, so when the client disconnects the server also shuts down. The listen servers limit the number of players because of its bandwidth and CPU requirements.

  • The dedicated servers run on dedicated hardware that is located in a data center. It’s preferred by multiplayer and it can be set up by obtaining the server files, editing the configuration and executing the server.

The most popular servers are usually developed and owned by the game title, as this allows them to control and update content. Also they support massively multiplayer online games so a hue amount of players can share the passion.
