General info

Akismet is a simple and powerful plugin for your blog that will stop all the incoming spam comments. It integrates nicely with various types of blog software and it's free for personal use.

Akismet was released for the first time on october 25, 2005. Since the first installation, Akismet stoped 2,961,884,468 spam comments. Only 242,545,717 of all the comments posted were legit.

Pricing

Akismet is free for personal use with a non-commercial blog or non-profits and you don't even have to download anything if you're using Wordpress (just register to get your API key). However, people that maintain commercial blogs are required to purchase a subscription for $5/month. The Enterprise license works with blog networks and corporate blogs and costs $50/month.
