General Info

Avira protects your network, personal computer and mobile device against viruses, trojans, malware, spyware or rootkit. It scans all the files looking for known threats and it quarantines them right away. Then, depending on the user's preferences, it will attempt to repair the infected file or simply remove it from the hard disk.

System requirements

  1. 133 MHz processor (Pentium or higher)
  2. 196 MB RAM (or 512 MB RAM for Windows Vista)
  3. 50 MB free space on your hard disk

Tests

The latest tests proved once again that Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium (7.04.00.57.) deserves its fame. Having to protect a computer from over 800,000 threats (600,000 backdoors, Trojans and malware), Avira scored a detection rate of 99.45%. According to the well known AV-Comparatives tests and thanks to the Avira AheAD technology, it ranked first in the top of antivirus software with only scan engine. Symantec got the second place followed closely by Kaspersky and AVG.
