This is a great start for a beginner. Blogger is really easy to use and... free. There's a huge online database of questions answered so whenever you get stuck you can consult it to find your way out of trouble. I especially like the WYSIWYG editor, the templates available and the video tagging. On the downside, since Blogger is so popular it's also exposed to spammers. The solution they implemented lacks quality as it blocks clean content also so you might find yourself stuck on the splog (blog spam) blacklist.

Blogger.com is a very easy to use blogging service, especially if you don't want to bother with technical know-how. It has a lot of features and is easy to change the template or design if you have a little HTML knowledge. Lately, after Google bought Blogger.com, I've noticed that they are trying to give it more of a community feel with the profile, new way of displaying comments on the same page and the photo blogging. Which looks like a wrong decision because for a free service it was a bit more professional than the others and this came from the backend interface and from the orientation on content instead of the community part. Thought, there is a big advantage that comes from Google, any article is indexed amazingly fast, Blogger.com web page is one of the few that has a 10 points Page Rank.
