I searched for so long an ”icon make it yourself” software. When I was little I enjoyed that each folder had a specific icon, that will match with the content and the name. In time I lost my sense of “iconicity” but in some time, meanwhile it came back. I wanted to find a software where I could import my own pictures but I found something much more. With Chameleon Icon software I can create special icons for: windows, e-mail shortcut, skinned folder, web shortcut, AIM buddy icon and ICQ shortcut. For each category you’ve got many many “icon frames”: for example, for ICQ you can get a frame with their specific flower in the corner and so on. The icons can look like candies, you can change the picture it self by changing the contrasts, make it sepia or grayscale so like this you will have an old fashion icon or a patriotic one with the US flag background. You can crop the image, set a magnifier on it, set the size of the icon: 16 x 16, 32 x 32, 48 x 48. After building your perfect icon you can directly apply it for your targeted folder, you can save it as icon or you can even save it as a picture: jpg, png, bmp, gif, tga. Also you can download styles from Chameleon Icon website, flip your picture and choose the part to be shown in the icon. The interface is friendly, stylish as MAC configuration.
