I used dcfldd under GNU because I needed to have a forensic analysis security system. I discovered that dfldd was actually a version of GNU dd on steroids, allowing me to test hosts against predefined patterns, in order to make sure everything was safe. The tool was easy to use, and the facilities offered did not have any room for improvement.
