Debian was my first choice when I decided to switch to Linux . I replaced my Windows XP with Debian a couple of months ago and the support I got was really helpful. It seems to me that Debian has the most complete support in the open source world. Also it‘s very fast and light (it works smoothly even though I have little RAM memory –KDE works super fast). All the packages I need are in the stable version so no need for hunting bugs. Although the setup requires a little more knowledge and information (for a newbie like me) the configuration is not that difficult, eth0 is always detected and Apt is immediately available with lots of lists to draw from.
