FAM – considering any graphical file manager. When the user starts altering files, removing or adding them, their changes are visible instantly. But, if they change the files through other means, like typing a command in a shell, the file managers will keep showing the wrong information until you manually refresh it. So, to counter this, the FAM will provide an API that will notify you that something has modified your files. It can also be implemented into graphical file managers, that will receive a signal from FAM and display the correct information for you, the user. The tool can be used in so many applications, to keep tracks of changes, for example you could log any activity on a specific computer, and make sure that no files are changed without your information. Great and useful, for all of us “control freaks”.
