I think Frozen Bubble is the best free game that you can play on Debian. First of all it is a game that can be played in single mode (100 levels), in multi-player mode, or on LAN mode (with up to seven players). The rules are very simple. You have a mobile cannon that throws with colored balls, and on top of the table, you have random balls. All you have to do is to make groups of three or more balls that have the same color. Frozen Bubble is a keyboard only controlled game, with no mouse support, but I have to say that I really don't need the cursor in game play, because I’m using just the movement keys (up,down, right and left).
