[edit] Brief Description

Autodesk Inventor is a 3D parametric modeling software developed for digital prototyping and engineering to design and produce new products. Unlike traditional CAD programs where the dimensions are geometry-driven, the parametric modeling techniques allows the geometry to be dimension-driven. This functional design enables users to create very large, complicated assemblies defining 3d models based on 2D sketches, also providing the freedom to modify, edit as they work or later, without having to redo the entire part. All the building blocks of Inventor can be joined together by adding constraints between the elements. This approach is also used by other software like SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER and represents a perfect solution for 3D digital prototyping, accelerating and simplifying the concept-to-manufacturing process.
