Ever wondered how secure the IRC networks are?
Well, a short answer for you – they aren’t as safe as you would like them to be. That is why some developers started creating the IRC Defender. It is designed to protect you against most of the malicious software that roams the IRC network, meaning viruses, Trojan drones and the likings. Written in Perl, the IRC Defender is a highly modular security service, that will allow you to use regular expressions, and prevent the abuse of CGI:IRC proxies. Give it a try, if you’re still in the IRC world.
