This server platform is the most robust and scalable system I have used. It offers gateways to connect to other IM systems, so you don't have to be cut off from the outside world. It can utilize your LDAP service for user and group management. It allows for server based message storage. It even has the ability to use relays to setup remote servers to connect to the central server. This allows for a more stable and secure environment. This is worth your time to look at as it will change the way you communicate in your office.
