Tabbed browsing has become a standard but what's hot about Opera is the ability to see thumbnail previews when you hover your mouse over a tab. Another cool feature is the integrated BitTorrent support for downloading large files. As for security, Opera supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) version 3, and TLS 1.0 and 1.1. Opera supports 256-bit encryption, the strongest standard encryption for the Web. Overall Opera is easy to use, innovative, free (since September) and most importantly a serious competitor to FireFox and Internet Explorer.

I've switched to Opera about 3 years ago and I'm still using it. There are minor plugin content problems with some pages, but I don' mind opening IE once in a while. One other problem I encountered was when I was using Opera to read feeds: it kept showing duplicate feeds. Overall a very good product. Too bad Google pushes Firefox instead of Opera. Another thing: in google reader, when I scroll my mouse wheel (up or down, it doesn't matter) it keeps scrolling the page content down.

Opera is a compact web browser and comes for free. Opera and Firefox are my two standard web browsers.

I think it's the fastest browser I've used, but it has one big problem it has problems displaying some web pages. It is all you need to use the net: - has a mail client - torrent client - rss fead reader And now it is free.

I used to be an opera dedicated user until firefox came up on the stage. I was still surprise to find that although the percentage in opera users doesn't show it, they managed to develop a very good browser. It doesn't really feel any difference between browsing by opera or firefox, although I would recommend the latter one for everyday use. In designing a page, opera doesn't as a bigger headache but as a surprise. The major compatibility issues are still between gecko browsers, and IE, may it be version 7.

It is the fastest browser, but it has big problem with displaying some web pages and Add-ons. For now it is free software. referenced by Adomas

Download.com User reviews - 9.0
Pros: 1)The wand can be used for auto-fill and sign-ins on ALL websites, without the exceptions the other browsers have. 2)The widgets are self-installing with new ones almost daily. There is even a widget that will help you create your own. 3)Very configurable to take advantage of your needs or screen-space. 4)Mouse gestures are very easy to use and hard to part with. 5)A very intuitive browser that meets all needs. Because of a "bug", I started using IE and FF more, but 9.1 fixed that memory-bug. Now IE is parked except for one Tuesday a month and FF is gone, awaiting a trial of version 3 sometime next year, maybe. Out-of-the-box Opera is the easiest and fastest browser, PERIOD!
CNET Reviews - 8.0
We like many of the cool new features introduced in Opera 8, such as its ability to stretch and resize Web pages to fit your desktop needs without sacrificing content. Unfortunately, Opera comes with a catch: in order to get all of the advanced features, you'll need to pay $40 or put up with an endless stream of banner advertising on the free version. This makes the value proposition for Opera 8 questionable at best.
