Pegasus mail is indeed a good email, but not by far the best out there. Not because of its features but because of the user interface that's not so... friendly. If we're talking about features of Pegasus that I adore, I have to mention the powerful spam filter that blocks about 99% of the spam and the HTML message editor.

I have used Pegasus as my only email client for over a decade. This software is solid as a rock both in terms of stability and functionality. Additionally, the developer continues to ride the wave of new technology by incorporating new features. Best yet it is FREE, although I have a check already written in my checkbook for the day it becomes commercial. You can't go wrong with this one.

Pegasus Mail is one of the oldest email clients on the market and yet it managed to stay in top in spite of the fierce competition. It may not be as good looking as Thunderbird, but it offers so much more to compensate for that. It is very stable and secure, using Bayesian spam filtering to better ensure privacy to its users. If you are more interested in quality rather than looks then Pegasus Mail is definitely the perfect choice.
