photoshop
In large scale, photoshop is GREAT, BUT on every version he has differents bugs, and in my point of view that it stupid. I will give you an exemple : CS 2 is the most stable until now but he moves VERY slow, if you install over 2000 fonts you will wait even 5 minute to load, but in CS3 is loading very FAST but he is very unstable, on the same computer i cannot load 3 psd files each having 30 MB without crashing it. To end this PS is the best graphic 2D program on the market right now (leaving this "small" errors behind) , and the competion lost some ground.

CS2 works fine for me

Indeed CS2 looks like it helds the optimum bugs/performance ratio so far. What I hate the most in this version is that sometimes when working with multiple displays, you try to close one file, chose not to save the changes, and you lose another precious file. Is it a bug, or is it just me?
