If you want an eye friendly splash screen when your operating system starts, then you have to try Splasy. I have to say that I am very satisfied with the capabilities of this package. First of all, I found many great free themes for it, and second, I am amazed about the fact that I do not need a Kernel patch to make Splashy work. In one of this days, I am going to make my own theme, and I have to mention that it has support for animated images.
