I transformed my laptop into a dozen set of virtual machines , all with a different operating system in it and different configuration. I downloaded VMware Player for free (currently version 2.0) and i found it very easy to use. I can run Linux and Windows machines side-by-side without having to reboot my system or to go through the installation process. Usually I just Google for VMware images, download them and then I'm just one click away from having another operating system on my computer. Because it's just a free tool I can not create images on my own but so far the player helped me a lot. It's simple, it does not crash and it does its job for free.
