iPhone lifting
As I played a lot with WebOSes around I might say that I never saw it coming for my iPhone. You think that a phone is a phone, no operating system can fit in the browser so well so why bother? But Widgetop knew better than me that on the iPhone a cool new face with little new widgets will definitely look good. And it does. It's a new face for my Apple phone. Face lift I might call it but it still needs some workarounds here and there The standard webtop comes with 14 little mini icons that I couldn't wait to try. The Calculator, Stickies, Holidays (a little calendar), Google Maps, Weather (from BBC), and World Clock were not so appealing to me as the iPhone already comes packed with that so I gave the other a try Easy Currency is supposed to be an easy converter but it only has 6 currencies so it works in a hurry, The design is not so inspired and it comes off my "desktop" screen so I have to zoom out in order to capture the whole application on my screen. I'm still gonna use the google converter The Wikipedia Tool on the iPhone is super useful but to bad it doesn't work for bigger articles as the scrolling can't be used. In fact, none of the other applications that have scrolling integrated are working The RSS News Reader is another useful tool but again no scrolling. I couldn't add new feeds to the thing either Even though I was a little bit disappointed that the tools I've been waiting for are not really helpful there are other 192 applications that I can try on Widgetop I can display the widgets like on the classical view I have on the "home" of my phone but I can also view them as a list . That's practical if I have more apps added I like it that whenever I use a new little widget I have a cute home button that gets me back to the other applications So far Widget top works on Safari (Mac OS X), Firefox and Opera. The Dashboard view doesn't work exclusively with iPhone so if you have a phone with Symbian on it you can make it simulate the cool iPhone look In spite of the little bugs that I have found, Widgetop is one of the coolest iPhone web based application I have ever tried and I can't wait for the next version with improvements. The development of application is open to anyone with programming skills so everything sounds very promising. Soon my iPhone will upgrade to a cooler look
