Description

You don’t have to install any software to talk with IM, you just have to have an account, internet and some internet browser. Stay in touch with your friends really easy, just browsing down the net. It supports AIM accounts, Yahoo, Google talk and MSN.

System requirements

As it is a web based application you can run it on every operating system:

    • Windows
    • UNIX system–like
    • MacOS
    • and others

History

  • 2005: First release, created by Sandy Jen, Elaine Wherry and Seth Stemberg.
  • 2006: Meebo XX appeared.

Features

You can choose your preferences: Choose to show emoticons in a IM message, to play sound when you send or when you receive an IM and now you can even set up your skin from several ones (Default,, pink, green, purple, onyx, talib kweli, cartel, yung Joc, The last goodnight, the family values tour, PUMA diverse and many others) Also you can save your IM history to view later. You can specialize your profile by putting a photo to your image buddy icon. You can choose from theirs (they are few) or you can import one of yours.

Meebo rooms now offers you the possibility to chat on conferences with your friends, share links and you can create your own room and personalize it. Join their rooms and you can become a member, incite some of your friends or even embed it on your site. You can find other rooms with their little engine especially for this search.

It has almost the same features as a normal software. A big miracle now is that you can send files! You can make conferences, add or delete buddies form your list, give mass messages easy (pressing one button). At a IM window you can see the info for that person: id, status, last update and a Profile URL .

Easter eggs

As these type of software’s are really poor in features with meebo you can see the button for application on you can have some fun: create group video chat – yes meebo has video too now!!!, voice chat, games, speed date, attack and many others.

Try the Meebo me feature and get in touch with your fans. If you have your own web site, blog or so you can place on it a widget so people could speak to you directly from it. Name it and type your username. After that you only have to copy paste a code and voila.
