When working under Linux, it is sometimes dull and a little music never hurt anyone. That’s why I used mpg123, which is basically a mp3 player, since this is the most common used audio compression codec. The tool worked amazingly easy and reliable, with playlist support, excellent control for the equalizer – in realtime, and any other features that you could expect. I used it ever since I discovered it, quite some time ago, and never really wanted anything else.
