Wget is the de-facto command-line download utility in Linux. It handles HTTP, HTTPS and FTP, and will hapily download pretty much anything for you. Wget can recursively download web sites or ftp trees, and has lots of options to configure exactly what and how it will download. It can also resume a partial download, send POST requests, send login information, and much more. Another nice feature is that it displays detailed information about HTTP responses, so I find it very useful as a debugging tool for our Java servlets.
